Having done the basic production course with Arif I cannot believe how much I learnt from the 2 sessions a week over the 4 weeks.

Arif is top bloke, If he dosnt know it I dont think its worth knowing, he is full of information and really passes on his wealth of knowledge to you during the 4 weeks.

I went from a compleate novice to making a tune over the 4 weeks and now with logic at home the only thing getting in my way is lack of time.

If you are thinking about taking this course you really dont need to think about it, just book it and you wont regret a thing!!

Have recently finished the advanced production course at Subbass and was in awe of the man teaching me. I'm sure everyone who has completed the course will agree with me that Peo is the man. He's a dude, and he knows absolutely everything there is to know about the business and whats more, he actually gives a shit! He listens to what you have to say and asks you what you'd like to produce and what inspires you. There is no set way to produce and no particular rules in his case (within reason). Which is brilliant because he does not force you to do something that you don't like the sound of. Its the perfect course for people who want a headstart in production particularly as he and John have just released an album.
The big big selling point for me though was the fact that Graeme,  John and all the tutors are in the business whether it be Djing or production. None of them are Wannabees or failed musicians. I strongly recomend it. I now need to find time to to do the advanced dj course.

Wow what a great course! Before the course, I had a basic understanding on how to compose a track! And found that Graeme or who should be called the 'rock' as he is solid! Has taught me so much its unreal! I was in pure awe of how much he knows and on how to manipulate the sounds, of how i wanted them! I would be like here  I want some err on my bass! He would strole over and twiddle some knobs and then bang there was the err on the bass! Quality! As music production is something i really want to get into i found myself picking up what I was being taught quite quickly and really got to grips with what can be achieved on logic! Umm blessed automation! This course has really put me in good stead for the future as even now the learning hasn't stopped as i continue to compose back home and learn new things! In a netshell Great teacher, great experience and amazing value for money, worth every penny!

I have also done the Basic Production course a while back, and I just want to confirm what the other dudes here have said: this is a top-quality course.

In our course there was a mix of people who knew a bit and some people who knew nothing, and Arif coped with all of us just fine. He can explain the basic stuff as well as go into more details and complexity. The man knows so much, he also lets you listen to what he's currently working on in the real production world, which is a big bonus! He showed us how he was doing on a remix of a Duran Duran track, so we could see all the elements involved in producing a house remix of a pop track - fantastic!

The great thing about Arif is he also has lots of sound engineering knowledge, so he throws a bit of sound theory in the course and it is quite interesting - for example he described how a sound gun works!! Mad or what!?

The course is on the Logic software but I found it was no problems moving on to other software, whether it's Cubase or ProTools or Ableton or whatever, after the course as the principles are quite general.

One thing I would recommend is to take pen and paper with you and take notes during the course as there is so much information and Arif will tell you LOTS and LOTS about every single effect you can think of, all the EQs of course, and the reverbs, delays, tranceformers, metalizers, bitcrushers, plus all the bits and pieces of the samplers (and there is so much to know!) and synths, the sound phases (Attack, decay, hold etc.)... Impossible to list them all, but there is so much that I am glad I took notes I can refer back to.

So if you want to know not only how to use music production software but also how to produce great tracks, this course is for you.

Yep, i finished the course and was taught by the evil Sith Lord Dan 'Catman' Gerrett! Dan is one of the hottest producers out there and he def taught me the ways of the force, the course gives you what you want to kick start your production dreams, especially from a DJs point of view! So much so, that my studio is in full swing cause of this course-you have been warned!
Just the kind of atmosphere you want in a studio too, relaxed with music lovers and lots of visits to the chicken shop/off licence-ha ha! Top course, top lads!

Have to say the course was fantastic. I was on it with Ben, and, having had 6-8 months of buggering about on Logic 5.2 and then Express 7 i thought I was starting to get a handle on it. Going on the course made me realise that there was a hell of a lot of stuff to take in way beyond what I already knew, and I went in a total novice and came out feeling like I had the tools to make it as a producer, which is more than I could've hoped for.

I learnt a lot of interesting stuff on it, and (once the pesky upgrade is done on my Mac) I'll be there. Even the tune I made on the course itself, which is pretty much just a tutorial piece, has had some really good feedback, (listen to it on
my myspace page as well as part of another track I was working on) and that's the product of just 4 weeks. Nuts really.

Hats off to Dan, I knew he was a top Dj but its not a question of rolling up and nattering about it, he was a very good tutor.

Did this course in January 2007 and it's amazing. I had knowledge of Logic before but lacked skills and basic production 'rules'.
Dan (the tutor) did a great job of teaching us and really knows his stuff - cheers mate!

This is the best course i've ever attended. Total value for money. Nice one Graeme et al - keep up the good work.
