Hi Guys,
I just want to say a Big thank you to John Taylor and the subbass team for the Weekend DJ course I took this weekend just gone.
I have been 'messing' around with my decks for a few months at home and thought i have learnt as much as I could on my own from books web and videos etc, SO i desided to take the plunge and join the course.
The people I was on the course with where all great as well and not as I expected at all, we where all in the same boat and got along fine.
The course covered every thing I wanted it two and I left on a high! All that is left to do is just to keep my head up and keep practicing.
I have since been on my decks every day and have found that although I still have a mountain to climb things are starting to slot into place, I now know that when things arent going right I atleast know why and what to do about it.
I Finaly just want to give a THANKS to John to sharing his knolege he was a more than qualified teacher having played at the worlds best venues including several clubs from the deam land of Ibiza!
Thats it !
Hope ill soon be added to your list of star students

I was very impressed with the way that the 'Urban Weekend' course was delivered and for the patience and professionalism in which Joe (Joe2Grand) taught the class.
Within the first few hours I had been shown techniques I felt (with continued practice at home) would provide the confidence that I was hoping for; to stand in front of my decks and actually know what I was doing and most importantly why.
The reason I decided on a djing course in the first place instead of continuing along the 'self-taught' path; was to have the opportunity to sit with a professional dj (with years of experience), with the intention of receiving 'real' feedback on my basic skill set. This is exactly what I received from the course and Joe's advice was invaluable.
Personally, I feel the best learning environment to master any new skill is where the 'teacher loves his subject'. The enthusiasm was obvious which kept the momentum high throughout the weekend.
The 'Urban Weekend' course is one that I would certainly recommend!

Hey everyone,
I have just finished a one month course with Graeme down on Hatton Wall. What can I say....... I went there not ever using a set of decks in my life. That was all about to change...............
The class sizes are limited to 3 or 4. You do get a lot of one on one time with Graeme who, with the wealth of experience and patience, makes it a relaxed and comfortable learning curve.
Sophie was great. Always more than happy to help. (Sorry Sophie, no more Cappuccino delivery)
I always put it off. I am so glad I have done it now.
Go on, you know you want to

Just a big thanks to John & Subbass...
I learnt a lot this weekend and was very helpful brushing up, learning new skills and erasing old bad habits, I was playing Breaks and Electro/tribal house and then went onto some funk and the skills I learnt helped me across all my musical tastes.
Its good to be taught by people actually working in the industry and hearing their experiences and sharing their knowledge, its suprising how much you can get done in just two days!
Very friendly atmosphere, it has given me a confidence boost and I will be seriously pursuing a DJ'ing career in the near future.
I would recommend the course to anyone and everyone!
also a little hello to Julliet & Justin! good luck peeps
Hi, just had the best weekend with Graeme Lloyd on his weekend Dj course...never touched decks in my life...now have the bug...am anticipating my delivery of CDJs from West End DJs (with discount through the course!) and can't stop searching for tracks on the web...thank you Graeme! Have decided I am definitely persuing my dream of being able to mix and will more than likely be seeing you again on the Advanced course...can't wait to get out there and play...watch this space!.......

I did the both the basic and advanced courses back in the summer of 2003. I came into the course owning a pair of 1210's, but not having a clue how to use them properly. The basic weekend taught me everything I needed to know to get on with. Cueing, Beat Matching and Pitch Control. Then it was just down to months of practice.
I took the advanced course 5 months later and that helped to fine tune all of the bad habits I'd picked up!
After a year of practice I entered the subbass/gallery DJ Competition which really gave me the confidence to start playing infront of a crowd. This was followed up by gigs at Turnmills and Herbal, all setup by Subbass.
Now, nearly 3 years on, I'm co-running and playing at a night called Sub-Mission (www.sub-mission-uk.com), playing at some of the best clubs in London, with people I've met through Subbass.
What was that? shameless plug? naaaaaaaaaah
