Shane Watcha
From spinning Acid House to a small club in South Africa aged 20, to playing alongside house music’s greatest legends at London’s best clubs. Shane’s lust for house music has seen him slug his record bags around Europe, touring the world over while continuing to hold down his London residency for both Circo Loco & Zombie Soundsystem & keeping a steady flow of record releases. Since humble beginnings in his home town of Durban, Shane has gone on to be a regular at London top clubs, playing Glastonbury to warehouse raves in East London.
From playing DC10 opening party for CIRCO LOCO & to the main stage @ TDK festival alongside Sasha, BookaShade ,Loco Dice & James Holden. The quality of Shane’s sets have seen him playing alongside legends like Frankie Knuckles, Todd Terry, Marshall Jefferson, Derrick Carter and Boy George to present day heroes like Mathew Jonson, Ewan Pearson, Steve Bug, Loco Dice, Booka Shade, Claude Von Stroke, Marc Houle, Konrad Black, Matthew Dear, Ralph Lawson, James Holden & Mr C. Shane also hosts the very popular ZOMBIES ATE MY BRAIN parties that were also hosted alongside Jaded on Sunday mornings at The End. (RIP) On the production front – Toolroom records have been quick to sign Shane’s first release, with his next release signed to Tim Sheridan’s VeryVeryWrongIndeed label.
Being inspired by the tribal sounds of Danny Tenaglia and intensity of Laurent Garnier and Carl Cox sets, Shane is always focused on the party - his techno sets have a tougher edge while his lighter & more minimal side has seen him rock dancefloors worldwide. He is a firm believer in the concept of the global dance floor, so come Saturday night, you're just as likely to find him popping up in Europe, USA, and Asia as you are in London. All in all, not a bad result for someone who started DJing at 20 in that tiny club in South Africa. “There is something cool & cultish about Shane’s ability to switch from mild mannered human into rabid techno, minimal house fiend!” DJ MAG
