Si Tew is a DJ, Producer and Performer making everything from neck snapping hiphop to deep moody electronica. Hailing from the Midlands Si Tew cut his teeth on the free party circuit before getting an internship with Martin ‘Atjazz’ Iveson at his Derby based Mantis Recordings HQ. It was here that Si Tew honed his sound design skills under the tutorage of the Tomb Raider composer and learnt to design sounds for a number of AAA published video games.
Late night studio sessions surrounded by the array of Analogue synths housed in the Mantis Recordings HQ started to craft Si Tew sound and his love for synthesis. When The Clouds Ran Away was his first solo album released on Atjazz Record Company in 2011 before touring with his live act. Since this album Si has remixed the likes of Robert Owens, Aloe Blacc and Atjazz, as well as having his own productions remixed by Osunlade, Kyodai and Zed Bias to name a few.
As a sound designer Si has continued to craft his skills and is now a regular producer for artists on Universal as well as for their production library. He also creates sample packs for some of the biggest names in the industry including Black Octopus, CR2 and Samplemagic. While his samplepacks have been topping the charts his productions have been synced by the likes of MTV, National Geographic and the BBC and this is all happening while he is playing at clubs and festivals across the UK and Europe as a Live artist and DJ.
As part of a live electronic duo, One Bomb, Si Tew’s music received Radio 1 playlisting and live performances at Glastonbury as part of the BBC introducing stage and remixes and features aplenty. Collaboration has always been an important part of his musical day to day and this has seen Si Tew perform with a 15 piece world music band at Boomtown and an ensemble at The Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Proms.
Si specializes in sound design and live performance and has put together a number of online courses for SubBass Academy.
