We catch up with Tamika Wilson on what she has been up to since her DJ Complete course and her subsequent Ableton Level 1 & 2 courses.
Still a teenager, she played her first gig at 18 where she warmed up for the likes of Kurupt Fm & Klose One at Bucks Student Union, shortly following that she played her first gig at Ministry of Sound in the 'Loft'. Since then Tamika has played at clubs such as, Egg Ldn, Café 1001, 33HZ, Nomad and also playing at Ministry another 3 times including a set in the 103. As well as playing at many other prestigious clubs further afield, for example branching out to Blue Mountain in Bristol; Tamika has supported well known names such as Dappy, Wookie, Champion & Tough Love. Additionally to this Tamika is playing her first festival this year, 'Global 12' in Shoreditch and is looking to start her new monthly residency in Reading starting this summer. As well as breaking into the club scene in the last 10 months, Tamika also has experience in radio; she have previously hosted her own show on Surrey Hills Radio every Saturday night for a year and subsequently held a weekly residency in a local bar.
'The experience and knowledge I gained from studying at Subbass is second to none. Both of my course tutors were amazing and I wouldn't be where I am now without them. But the thing that stands out most of all is even long after the courses have been completed the other students and staff are all still there to support each other, the friends I made are friends for life. So thank you SubBass! I wouldn’t be on the right path without you!'
